Team project for MGB222

I was required to participate in a team project for the subject MGB222 Managing Organisations. Teams of 6 were allocated randomly, and our team had a couple of mature age students in it.
There was immediately a clash of values between the school leaver students and the mature age students.

I undertook to try to find some middle ground in terms of the expectations of each sub-group. This was an extremely difficult task because neither sub-group was initially willing to accommodate the others' views.

Eventually I called a team meeting and involved everyone in trying to draw up a set of group rules with respect to team processes and desired outcomes. These rules were agreed to on a trial basis, and team roles were allocated accordingly.

Even though we had a few minor skirmishes, we were able to get the task done satisfactorily - we achieved a Credit overall.

I now know that setting group rules is a good way to impersonalise potential issues. This should be done very early in the process, preferably before conflict arises.

To record an experience in Student ePortfolio, you will first need to log in via QUT Virtual.
You can access step-by-step instructions for creating an experience and creating an artefact via the menu on the left side of this page.
Once you've added some experiences and artefacts to your ePortfolio, you can think about creating an ePortfolio View and releasing your ePortfolio content to others.
Note that the information you enter into your ePortfolio will NOT be visible to anyone else unless you choose to include the information in an ePortfolio View and then release that View to another person.
